Day1 - Halifax-Paris

Thursday 22 September / London cloudy / Paris sunny and warm

(Remember the menu to the left has albums of photos)

We actually left for London last night (21 sep) around 9pm.  We used Aeroplan points and so booked the 1st class seats.  WOW.  My feet couldn't reach the seats in front of me.  6 way power seats with lumbar support - the only thing missing was a massage option.

After landing, we went to the self check-in machine to check in for our next flight to Paris.  In Halifax, they set up our luggage so that it would auto transfer and go all the way to Paris.  But on a different airline for this part of the trip, I was nervous when I agreed to this in Halifax.  Anyway, the self check-in machine  was not as intuitive as it could have been.  It asked for a credit card to identify the passenger (and online buyer, i.e. Lisa), and then kept rejecting the rest of the transaction until we figured out to stick in my credit card so it would recognize me.  So, we thought all was good, it asked for how many pieces of luggage to be checked, we said 0, since they were going the automatic route, i.e. we had none to place down on the belt.

Life is good, to the plane batman.  And just before backing out of the gate, we were told there was a delay as they had to get luggage off the plane for someone that didn't get on the plane.  Ah, why do people do that?

Anyway, landed in Paris, waited for luggage - no luggage.  Went to the lost luggage department were we eventually found out it was our luggage taken off the plane.  Duh!  Our luggage had our names on it, it had Air Canada tags, we actually got on the plane.  They didn't think this through very well.  Did they assume we had none since we said 0 luggage?  Don't they know how to check tag, then check passenger list of people that boarded?  Oh well, luggage was waiting in London, and would be delivered tonight (and they opened at some point since my ties were cut off).

At the hotel, met a gentleman named Roman from  Ottawa.  Full of helpful hints and he led us across the river before we parted ways.  Gorgeous night in Paris, we sat outside in a cafe and order a beer.  I wanted medium, Lisa wanted Large.  So we got 2 large beers and 36 Euros later (yes 18 Euros each), we laughed ourselves silly.  No one could finish the beer.  Later in the evening we had dinner, I had the duck.
