Friday 23 September / Paris sunny and warm (Remember the menu to the left has albums of photos) Breakfast in the hotel was excellent. They even had smoked bacon. We made a plan, kept it simple and were off. We walked for a while, then visited Musée d'Orsay (www.musee-orsay.fr), got on the hop on hop off bus and boat system (www.batobus.com) and went up river towards the Eiffel Tower. From the top of the tower, Paris is spectacular. The skyline goes on in all directions for ever, the architecture so consistent (original) except for a black ugly building and of course the downtown business core (way off in the distance). Then back on the boat, back down the river to Notre Dame. After a visit there, back to the hotel to change rooms and freshen up before our evening walk and dinner.
Dinner was excellent, the highlights - a cranky maitre d (who got ticked when we seated ourselves in the outdoor section, in our defense we waited and didn't see him or even know there was a maitre d), the duck (better than last nights), and dessert.

While
sitting at an outdoor cafe, we witnessed a parked car leave and another car take
the spot. Poor car behind the "spot". It got smoked twice by each
car parking and "unparking". But no one seems to care, it is part of the
crazy driving scene in Paris.
