Planter's Gold Life of Riley

Born in the winter of 1999, Planter's Gold Life of Riley aka Riley for short, was introduced into Lisa and my life - and it was wonderful. He was so cute, so small, so "homer-ish" at times that Lisa wanted to call him Homer. I said "NO".

He was a funny dog, didn't want to learn to swim, didn't want to chase balls (for very long), didn't want - well - he just plain did what he wanted - and got away with it.  But he was a good boy.  He was easy going, and always a gentle gentle sensitive soul.

In the last year or so, arthritis got his rear quarter and a flap in his breathing system made breathing a bit tougher.  But he was resilient.  Then when diagnosed with cancer in November past, with a prognosis of weeks to live, we tried chemo.  He took it well, had occasional bad days, and was beating it from the start.  But it just would not go away.  Once we saw there was no real chance, and once we saw him experience pain, we decided it was time to let our beloved go. There was no way we would allow him to suffer.  Watching him go was so difficult, but we were glad to be with him to the end, a painless end.  He passed away at 11:22 on Wednesday 21March2012.  A trooper to the end.

He will not be forgotten, and more and more images of him will continue to appear here.

Rest in peace Riley aka Snouter, Snouters, Snoutie, Snoutcity, Snouterpup, Augured Doggered, Augured Snoutered... I called him so many different names, he didn't mind.  We will meet again sometime into the future.  Spinner misses you too Riley.
